Elmar Groß, born in
the Saarland/Germany in 1961, started early in his childhood
with first attempts of playing the guitar. At the age of 28
he autodidactically learned to play the keyboard and was then
successfully playing in a band for 15 years. Since 2008 Groß
is improving his skills in playing the guitar by taking weekly
lessons with the songwriter Lino Battiston.
But another instrument should become his big passion - the
panflute!
Since holding the panflute in his hands for the first time
during a beginners course in 2005, he was fascinated by this
special instrument.
Thus, since 2006 he regularly participated in panflute seminars
with Ulrich Herkenhoff, during which he also had the chance
to study with Marina Landerl and Franz Öllinger, both
of which have finished the panflute studies provided by Ulrich
Herkenhoff at the Anton Bruckner University in Linz/Austria
with great success.
During another panflute seminar in summer 2014 Elmar Groß
astonished his classmates and his instructor Ulrich Herkenhoff
with his first composition - a simple melody, but played with
such passion, that the audience was electrified. Herkenhoff,
not only panflut instructor but also musical publisher, liked
the idea so much that pupil write pieces for their instrument,
that he spontaneously offered Gross a contract and by doing
so, motivated him to write more musical pieces for the panflute.
This is how this first issue with musical pieces from Elmar
Groß, arranged by Ulrich Herkenhoff, emerged. Elmar
Groß dedicated his first composition"Pour Claudine"
to his partner and "muse" Claudia!
